High temperature resistant nylon

1. PA11T Introduction

With the constant development of lead-free of electronic industry and automobile lightweight progress, the market demand for more and more high-heat resistant nylon resin. In this context, to meet these requirements, semi aromatic nylon material has been developed quickly. At present, the need of semi aromatic nylon in China is about 30000 ton/year, almost entirely dependent on imports. Zhengzhou University succeeded to explore semi aromatic nylon PA11T (high temperature resistant nylon resin) by utilization of DC11 Dicarboxylic Acid (Undecanedioic Acid) which is obtained by microbial fermentation, compared with the imported nylon PA9T, PA11T is lower cost, longer molecular chain, has better processing properties, lower water absorption rate, the dimension stability is better than nylon 9T, has good marketing value.

2. Advantages of Nylon PA11T

1.Strong crystallizationability, high melting point
Because the molecular chains of nylon PA11T has the symmetrical benzene ring structure, due to the conjugated effect of benzene ring and hydrogen bonding interaction of amide groups, therefore the crystallization rate is high and the melting point is high.

2.Excellent processing performance
Because of the number of methylene, PA11T maintained good processing performance, so it’s excellent high-temperature resistant polymer materials.

3.Good mechanical propertiesand good dimensional stability
The temperature dependence is small; the performance is stable within wide temperature range and also in high temperature, large fatigue strength and shrinkage, creep resistance and good dimension stability.

4.Low water absorption
Water absorption of nylon resin PA11T is very low, good insulation, especially for electrical and electronic industry.

5.Solvent resistanceand gas barrier properties.
Therefore, the application range is wide, can be alternative materials for the metal parts of automobile and mechanical industry, especially for the bearing bracket and the drive gear.

6.Good high-temperature resistance
Because of the excellent high-temperature resistance, it can be used as the surrounding material of the engine. In the electrical and electronic industry, especially for the printed circuit board substrate ratio is large.

7. Because of excellentweather resistance, in recent years, there are a large number of applications in the backing material of solar cells.

From the above tablecan be analyzed, the long carbon chain modified semi-aromatic nylon has its own unique superiorities, the short carbon chain nylon is unmatched. The market development space and the prospects of long chain semi-aromatic high-temperature resistant nylon are much better.

Application of Nylon PA11T

1.Automobile Application

  

High temperaturenylon series have outstanding high-heat stability and low water absorption (wet) rate. Higher dimensional stability and higher strength and rigidity retention in humid environment has been recognized by all the major automobile manufacturers. It can withstand the high strength and high load, high temperature resistance and work in harsh environment, therefore is very suitable for the engine area application. The engine (eg: chain tensioner, oil filter, engine cover), transmission system (clutch ring, shaft, thrust washers, bearing cage, torque converter parts), motor management system, air system (exhaust control system, pressure increases intercooler end caps, turbocharger components), pipe, the engine area sensors, switches and connectors, air intake device, cable fixing groove, alternator and starter parts, exhaust control and second air supply system in the valve and pump casing.

Electronic and Electric application

Wevigorously advocate the use of free-lead solder and widespread implementation of lead-free process, while Nylon PA11T accord with the requirements of lead-free welding. After 3 reflow and long time high temperature and ultraviolet aging, still maintaining high whiteness and reflectivity, with high dimensional stability, fast crystallization, high mobility, suitable for rapid prototyping, and lead frame, and good adhesion with package resin (silicon resin and epoxy resin), such as connectors, circuit breakers, winding, SMD elements, micro switches, motor parts, computers and its auxiliary equipment, communication industry, electrical products and household appliances, consumer electronics, capacitor.
